Category: About Us
Wildwasser Würzburg e.V. is a point of contact for people who have experienced sexual violence. The helpers offer not only therapeutic assistance, but also comprehensive prevention work and education. In addition to psychosocial support, the association also promotes projects such as the “Kinderschutzhaus” (Child Protection House) – an interdisciplinary center for the protection of children that provides comprehensive care for those affected. This work is particularly important because it creates a space where victims can find protection and help.
It is a sad fact that the number of women affected by violence continues to rise. In 2023, the number of sexual offenses increased by 6.2% compared to the previous year. According to recent studies and reports by the Federal Criminal Police Office, one in four women in Germany is affected by physical or sexual violence at least once in her life. What’s more, these are only the figures for known offenses. Many crimes go unreported, meaning that the actual number is much higher. This development highlights how important it is to support organizations such as Wildwasser Würzburg e.V.
Two of our employees were on site on December 12 to hand over our donation. After an exciting and interesting discussion about the work of the association, our employee Dagmar Prust described her impression as follows:
“The team is very close-knit and supports each other whenever and wherever possible. A stable team is important in order to continue working with the affected women and children in the best possible way and to offer them the help they need. A really great organization that we are happy to support.”

The origins of “Wildwasser” clubs
Wildwasser Würzburg e.V. was founded in 1984 and has its origins in the feminist women’s movement of the 1980s. Inspired by women in Berlin who spoke publicly for the first time about sexualized violence in childhood, self-help groups sprang up across Germany—including in Würzburg. The name “Wildwasser” stands for the vitality and strength of women who, despite their experiences of sexual violence, continued on their path and supported each other.
